The Bouquet

 Dear Readers,

When I first moved to Winona, I had the privilege of teaching a fine young man in Algebra 3 and Calculus.  He was such a good student that I often used his tests to check my key.  If we didn't agree on an answer I would double check the key and his test.  It was about 50/50 on who made the careless error.  He went on to major in Math Education at Mississippi State and then eventually came to Winona High to teach math.  So we became colleagues.  When I decided to retire, he went on to take the classes that I taught and they hired another math teacher to take his place.

Anyway, as life went on he married and his wife is now expecting their first child.  So I wanted to make them a baby quilt.  I had downloaded a pdf pattern from SewKindofWonderful called Flower Pop about a year ago and I have been waiting for a good opportunity to make that pattern.   I asked Andrew if they had a theme and he said they were painting the room a soft green color, but no theme.  So hopefully the quilt will fit in their nursery.

The Great Pumpkin

Dear Readers,

Here is the second finish... I named it the Great Pumpkin as it made me think of Charlie Brown and the annual Halloween kids movie where he was waiting for the Great Pumpkin to arrive.  I custom quilted this with a leafy meander in the green area and some straight lined quilting on the pumpkin.

Hello Spring

 Dear Readers,

About 2 years ago I bought the program to become a certified Sew Kind of Wonderful instructor, and then let it sit untouched for a long time.  You needed to make a quilt using 4 of the rulers from Sew Kind of Wonderful.

I don't know why I was worried about this.  But I put it off for a while, then when I finally made it, it wasn't a big deal and it went together so easily.  So after you do the quilt, you need to fill out a one page questionnaire and shoot a video showing you make one block.  I did the video and Celeste edited it and cleaned it up for me.  I sent it in a month ago and nothing.  So I resubmitted it last week and yesterday I heard back.  I was approved.

I am so excited to share these patterns and techniques with my friends.  So here is to new endeavors.  Click here to visit their website.

Oh, let me include pictures of the back and label too.

Oh, and check out my listing as an instructor on the SewKind of Wonderful site:
